A Eucharistic Minister (EM) is a lay person annually licensed by the Bishop to administer the Consecrated Elements (bread and wine) at a Celebration of Holy Eucharist presided over by the Bishop or Priest. At Zion, the EM often also serves as acolyte and altar server. On those occasions s/he vests in a cassock alb, serves as crucifer by carrying the cross in processions and takes his or her position opposite the priest at the altar.
