In preparation of my sermon, I usually read and then meditate on the scripture readings assigned for that Sunday’s liturgy. I must say that I have been torn between choosing our Old Testament readings or our New Testament gospels these past few months, as both contain so much history and teaching moments that I believe any preacher could go either way and deliver a very meaningful sermon to his or her congregation. This time, however, I have chosen to speak mainly about our Hebrew bible reading taken from the First Book of Kings……..but only after I say a few words about John’s mighty gospel.
